Teeth from Ivoclar Vivadent - features and benefits

Ivoclar Vivadent is a manufacturer of dental systems and materials for dentists and dental technicians. The company was founded in 1935, today it has 25 subsidiaries in other countries.

The factories are located in five producing countries: Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Italy, the Philippines, Austria, and the USA. One of the branches of Ivoclar Vivadent is located in Russia, there is an official website.

The company has its own research and production center, training and advanced training center. Many of Ivoclar Vivadent's developments are successfully used throughout the world. The company operates in 3 areas: direct restoration, removable prosthetics, fixed prosthetics.

Features and benefits of Ivoclar teeth

Ivoclar artificial teeth are manufactured in technical laboratories and meet all quality standards.
The dentures are quite durable and do not react to artificial solvents. The patient is not given any restrictions on food intake. Ivoclar dentures have good consumer characteristics, are durable and visually match natural teeth. Manufacturing using technology ensures that the dentures match the mucous membranes and topography of the patient’s own teeth.

The Ivoclar metal-ceramic crown is made from patented metal-ceramics IPS, IPS Style (contains oxyapatite crystals), IPS d.SIGH, IPS InLine, IPS Classic. There is also high-strength IPS e.max solid ceramic.

The company produces the following types of plastic teeth:

  • SR-Vivadent-PE SR-Orthotyp-PE;
  • SR-Vivadent-DCL SR-Postaris-DCL SR-Orthotyp-DCL;
  • SR-Vivadent SR-Orthotyp, Ivocryl.

Advantages of Ivoclar prostheses:

  • good biocompatibility with soft tissues;
  • absence of allergic reactions and irritation;
  • aesthetic compliance;
  • low level of shrinkage;
  • low level of such an effect as raising the bite;
  • high performance characteristics - strength, resistance to abrasion and chewing loads;
  • comfort of wearing;
  • absence of plaque deposits due to the content of special components in the structure of the structure.

"Ivocap"

The new generation removable denture “Ivocap” differs from analogues in its high hypoallergenicity and excellent bio-compatibility. An artificial jaw is made by injection molding, which allows you to obtain a prosthesis completely identical to the cast of the jaw.

Thanks to this, the prosthesis adheres as firmly as possible to the remaining molars and to the gum. Good fastening ensures quick adaptation, reduces the level of pain, and increases the comfort of its use.

The impact resistance of Ivocap dentures is 30% higher than that of other designs. An orthopedic implant from a Swiss dental company does not absorb odors, is convenient for hygienic maintenance, and retains its ideal appearance for many years.

Manufacturing and installation

In the manufacturing process of Ivoclar prostheses, a special Ivocap System technology is used. It is a plastic injection molding technique. Using hot polymerization, techniques produce an orthopedic structure with an optimal level of transparency and clinical characteristics.

Making a complete removable denture takes on average 10 to 6 weeks. It all depends on the complexity of the structure and the number of teeth being restored. Typically, partial dentures are made in less time.

The manufacture and installation of an orthopedic structure proceeds as follows:

  1. Examination of the patient’s oral cavity and selection of a suitable prosthetic option.
  2. When installing a partial denture, preparation is carried out, an impression is taken, and the boundaries of the removable structure are further determined.
  3. In the case of complete absence of teeth, intraoral recording of the movement of the lower jaw is carried out. An Ivoclar intraoral gnathometer is used.
  4. Afterwards, the impression is sent to the dental laboratory. The degree of transparency, shade and shape are selected.
  5. After the dentures are ready, fitting is carried out and, if necessary, the design is adjusted.
  6. If the design is suitable, then it is installed.
  7. Check articulation and occlusion.

Modeling, packaging and pressing are carried out in the dental laboratory. Coloring is carried out in 3 stages - processing - dye firing - glaze firing, layering technique and glaze. Not only the color of the living tooth is determined, but also the color of the stump.

The choice of shade is carried out in daylight or a certain intensity of artificial light. For this purpose, the Chromascop correspondence table is used. It represents the general standard for Ivoclar Vivadent. The coloring consists of five removable groups, which contain four shades. There are a total of 20 colors in the table.

Note! For more convenient work with composite materials, the innovative Optra Sculpt Ivoclar modeling tool is used.

Acry-Free denture

Acry-Free is an improved copy of nylon and acrylic orthopedic products. The removable structure, made of flexible plastic and acrylic-free resins, has a translucent texture and the natural pink color of the artificial gum.

The thermoplastic plastic from which the Acri-Free prosthesis is made is moderately flexible. The design fits well in the mouth and does not move or slide off while chewing food.

(Acry-Free) has a non-porous, but smooth surface on which bacteria do not accumulate. The prosthesis is maximally resistant to mechanical damage and is almost indistinguishable visually from real healthy teeth.

"Acri-Free" can be installed in the absence of several molars, as well as in cases of complete edentia. The optimal prosthetic option is determined and confirmed by the attending physician after a visual examination of the patient’s oral cavity.

How to brush your teeth with Ivoclar?

Cleaning of Ivoclar removable dentures occurs by analogy with designs from other companies. It takes place in several stages:

  1. Soaking . The removable structure is placed in a container with warm water, and a special product (tablet) is added for cleaning artificial teeth. At this stage, deep contaminants are removed, which the brush cannot always cope with.
  2. Mechanical cleaning . Use a soft bristle brush and solution to clean the structure. You should not use regular toothpastes, which can scratch the surface of the dentures. In the future, this can lead to the proliferation of bacteria.
  3. Rinse . Rinse the structure under running water, thoroughly rinsing the solution.

Metal-ceramic structures require professional care. The manufacturer suggests using a protective varnish. The product contains components that protect the surface and inhibit the development of bacteria.

The main advantages of the Ivocap and Acri-Free prostheses

  • Safety . Dentures are made from high-quality materials that are safe for humans and do not cause allergic reactions.
  • Durability . Removable structures are not subject to shrinkage and deformation and retain their original shape and structure for many years.
  • Practicality . Dentures can be left in place at night and are easy to care for, just like regular teeth.
  • Efficiency . “Ivocap” and “Acri-Free” prostheses are quickly manufactured, and in case of mechanical damage they can be easily repaired.
  • Price . New generation dental structures have an affordable price, affordable for the average consumer budget.

How much do Ivoclar prostheses cost?

Features of the material

A complete denture with a base made of polyurethane mass is biocompatible. It is resistant to impacts and increased loads, while the weight of the structure is light and does not require a period of getting used to. Polyurethane provides excellent adhesion to the stock, does not cause microtrauma or inflammation, and does not absorb moisture or odors. The advantages of the material include:

  • Several materials of different types can be combined on one prosthesis without loss of quality;
  • The fixation is reliable, there are no displacements or loosening;
  • there is no unpleasant odor when worn for a long time;
  • excellent aesthetics, design indistinguishable from natural teeth;
  • the scale provides the most accurate selection of shades;
  • high abrasion resistance;
  • fastening elements are hidden;
  • There are no violations of diction or taste.

What do they say about dentures?

There are very few reviews of Ivoclar Vivadent products on the Internet from ordinary people. They are mainly posted on commercial websites that sell products. Comments from specialists are mostly neutral or positive.

We have been working with Ivoclar for about 5 years. During this time, the product made a good showing. I would like to note the good performance characteristics of the structures, biocompatibility indicators, and aesthetic compliance. I won’t say that it doesn’t shrink at all, but compared to others it is minimal. In my practice there have been no complaints from patients, at least I have not heard of them. The only point is the higher price of the product (especially metal ceramics) compared to domestic materials.

Pros and cons of metal-ceramic prostheses

Advantages

  • Durability - withstands high chewing loads;
  • aesthetics - the color of the ceramic cladding is identical to natural enamel;
  • Manufacturing of the prosthetic system takes 7-14 days;
  • hygiene - metal ceramics do not accumulate bacterial plaque;
  • ease of care;
  • low price.

Flaws

  • Volumetric preparation of supporting units, depulpation is required;
  • some metals can cause allergies and oxidize upon contact with saliva (the exception is a frame made of precious metals);
  • can injure the enamel of opposite, neighboring units;
  • when the gums recede, the frame may become visible through the ceramic layer (a dark stripe at the gingival margin);
  • Not recommended for installation on anterior teeth due to the “gray neck” effect.

Alternative options

In terms of strength and durability, metal-ceramics are superior to zirconium oxide. At the same time, zirconium structures look more aesthetically pleasing, do not cause allergies, and are suitable for the restoration of any group of teeth - front incisors, molars, premolars. Another option is metal composite systems. Their advantage is that if the composite veneer is damaged, the prosthesis can be restored directly in the patient’s mouth. A relative disadvantage of the designs is the change in color of the composite due to frequent consumption of drinks and foods with dyes (tea, coffee, wine, etc.).

All-ceramic bridge Metal-free aesthetic prostheses, well suited for the anterior group of teeth

Zirconium bridge Aesthetic, durable zirconia bridge for anterior and posterior teeth

Clasp dentures A plastic frame on a durable metal arch, simulating gum, with tooth crowns inserted into it
