Quadrotti dentures: information for patients

18.12.2020

Quadrotti dentures are clasp dentures made, unlike previous models, from polymer material rather than metal. It is the aesthetic and durable material from which the support-retaining clasps and arch are made that determines the main characteristics of the prosthesis.

The comparison of QuattroTi with clasp dentures occurs precisely because of the high strength of the structure, although in reality these dentures are closer to those made of nylon. They have almost the same flexibility (slightly lower) as nylon ones, and the clasps are highly aesthetic and do not stand out against the background of the patient’s teeth.

It is used for partial loss of teeth; in case of complete absence of dentition, the Quadrotti nylon clasp prosthesis cannot be used. It is also impossible to install such prostheses on both jaws; the design can be used either on the lower or upper.

In addition to its excellent appearance and inconspicuousness, the Quadrotti nylon clasp prosthesis is characterized by its low weight and reduced base size. It wins over prostheses made of acrylic plastic and in terms of service life. You can use dentures for 7 years or more.

New generation Quadrotti dentures

Quadrotti removable dentures cannot be called some kind of innovative development: in fact, they are a type of classic clasp dentures, which are an arched structure with a soft base and artificial teeth.

  • The Quadrotti removable denture differs from similar systems in its improved manufacturing technology: it is made of special elastic plastic (DENTAL D), which is completely hypoallergenic and has the most natural appearance.
  • The new generation Quadrotti dentures are almost impossible to distinguish from natural teeth, so this design will be especially relevant for those who value aesthetic results.

QuattroTi: indications and contraindications

With QuattroTi, you can restore either one or several units in the dentition. The installation of Quadrotti prostheses is indicated primarily for those who cannot place implants and at the same time cannot use traditional clasps due to an allergy to metal. In addition, ordinary clasps are noticeable in a smile, while QuattroTi clasps do not have this drawback - this is convincingly proven by photos of finished products. Therefore, such designs are especially appreciated by aesthetically demanding patients.

Another indication is that QuattroTi is used as a splinting prosthesis. A splint made of durable plastic supports and preserves loose teeth, for example due to periodontitis.

What does a denture look like in the oral cavity?

The main contraindication, as for all types of clasps, is the lack of supporting teeth. Sometimes the anatomical structure of the jaw does not allow the use of this technology - for example, if the patient has a deep bite. Untreated oral diseases will be a temporary contraindication.

Clasp prosthesis Quadrotti - who is it suitable for?

The Quadrotti clasp prosthesis is designed for partial restoration of lost teeth. When rehabilitating patients with complete edentia (when all teeth are missing), the Quadrotti nylon prosthesis is not used, since at least several healthy teeth are needed to fix it. If you are missing a significant part of the dentition, then the design will be quite voluminous, since it also imitates part of the mucous membrane (at the same time, Quadrotti removable dentures without a palate for replacing several teeth look more compact).

The Quadrotti nylon prosthesis is not installed with support from implants, therefore it has a minimum number of contraindications:

  • various gum diseases;
  • serious malocclusions;
  • mental disorders.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of Quadrotti clasp nylon dentures include the following key properties:

  • excellent aesthetic qualities - the clasps are not noticeable against the background of the teeth used for support, the materials have 3 basic pink gum colors and 10 gradations of white used for the manufacture of clasps and the frame;
  • the prosthesis has a low degree of elasticity;
  • the strength of the product is 15 times higher than that of acrylic plastic; such prostheses do not break if dropped;
  • the base volume is slightly smaller than that of nylon dentures and significantly smaller than acrylic dentures;
  • high repairability - the prosthesis can break under heavy loads (for example, when bending 90 degrees), but even in this case it can be easily repaired;
  • service life of at least 7 years;
  • low hygroscopicity - the material does not stain upon contact with food dyes and does not absorb the odors of food or cigarettes;
  • high biocompatibility - the absence of a monomer allows Quadrotti to be used by patients with allergies (the characteristic is confirmed by the ISO 10993 standard);
  • low weight promotes rapid addiction.

Atrophy of the gum bone tissue in places with missing teeth is the main drawback that is inherent in all removable dentures

. Since there are no tooth roots, there is no load during chewing, so the bone tissue atrophies. Therefore, any bridges and removable dentures require periodic relocation, without which the patient experiences inconvenience.

And another drawback is the impossibility of installation with complete edentia. It will not be possible to secure a solid base material without teeth.

How is the Quadrotti removable prosthesis attached?

The Quadrotti clasp denture is fixed using transparent nylon hooks that wrap around the supporting teeth, ensuring reliable fastening. Natural teeth do not need to be prepared, which is important from the point of view of their further preservation. A Quadrotti prosthesis is placed on the upper jaw if there are at least four healthy teeth in different parts, otherwise it will be more difficult to ensure stable fixation. The same can be said about the Quadrotti prosthesis for the lower jaw, however, according to statistics, a larger number of teeth are usually preserved in the lower jaw in case of partial edentia, which is a favorable factor for installing a prosthesis.

Manufacturing stages

QuattroTi prosthetics occurs in several stages, which take approximately 2 weeks.

1. Inspection and preparation.

Sanitation is carried out, caries is treated, plaque and tartar are removed. The material and color scheme are selected;

2. Making a prosthesis.

After making an impression, dental models are formed in a dental laboratory, the prosthesis is ground and polished;

3. Installation of the prosthesis.

After fitting and fixation, the prosthesis is finally installed, and the patient receives recommendations on the rules of its use and care.

How to care for Quadrotti prostheses?

Many people are interested in how to care for Quadrotti prostheses. In fact, caring for a Quadrotti prosthesis does not pose any great difficulties, but requires strict adherence to certain procedures. After each meal, the structure should be washed with clean water (preferably boiled). Before going to bed, the prosthesis is cleaned with a brush and placed in a special solution: experts advise storing the container in a place where there is no direct sunlight, since exposure to temperatures negatively affects the appearance and functionality of the prosthesis.

Dentures provide fresh breath

When making dentures, flavorings can be added to the plastic material. It could be a vanilla flavor or chocolate notes, or even citrus fruits. Whatever option the patient chooses, all this will give his breath a pleasant aroma and get rid of the strange taste associated with the presence of a foreign structure in the mouth. However, you need to be careful with this: foreign odors can interfere with the sense of smell and be inappropriate during the period of eating food, in addition, they can cause an allergic reaction.

“Everyone praises and praises these quadrotti, but I don’t see anything special in them. I had to get used to it just like with nylon ones, I had them before. In terms of beauty, I won’t say that it is much better - the level is the same, well, maybe the Italian ones look a little more natural, they give a naturalness to the smile and a natural shine. Also, by the way, the doctor said that they won’t be very good on the lower jaw, since they still don’t cope well with heavy loads, but on top they are more ideal. That's all. So think, decide for yourself.”

Of course, the Quattro Ti has its downsides. The first is the price, they have a high cost, which starts from 40 thousand rubles for prosthetics of one jaw. The second is, as mentioned above, gradual atrophy of bone tissue. But here, alas, there are no alternatives among removable devices that could prevent it.

Quadrotti dentures: disadvantages, advantages, reviews

If we talk about the disadvantages of the Quadrotti prosthesis, we can note some nuances. In general, dentists’ reviews of Quadrotti prostheses are almost always positive.

  • High price.
    The price of the Quadrotti clasp denture is considered one of the highest among removable dentures supported by natural teeth.
  • Careful care.
    In addition, the Quadrotti prosthesis, like all systems of this type, requires careful care: the patient must have a high level of self-discipline and remember to carry out the procedures that we discussed above.
  • Strength.
    The Quadrotti denture cannot withstand too much stress, so you should not try to crack hard nuts with it (although this also applies to natural teeth).
  • High quality.
    Quadrotti prostheses are flexible, reliable and completely hypoallergenic. With proper use, their service life exceeds 7 years;
  • Nice aesthetics.
    The Quadrotti prosthesis does not have metal parts: all components are almost invisible in the oral cavity, and the soft base is matched to the color of the mucous membrane;
  • Reliable fit and comfortable wearing.
    The Quadrotti prosthesis does not rub the gums, and the patient’s articulation is not impaired.

Thermoplastic materials

The disadvantages of acrylic prostheses have stimulated the development of new materials for removable prosthetics. So, in the 50s of the last century, thermoplastics - polymer materials based on polyamide (nylon), polypropylene, methyl methacrylate or other compounds. They got their name because of their ability to reversibly transform into a viscous-flow state when heated. Thanks to this property, thermoplastics are able to accurately replicate the complex relief of the oral mucosa. Now there are many varieties of them on the market:

  • “ACRYFree” from Evolon (Israel);
  • “Vertex” ThermoSens (Netherlands);
  • “Dental D” from Quattro TI (Italy);
  • “Acetal Dental” T.S.M. (San Marino);
  • Valplast (USA);
  • “Flexite” (USA);
  • “Flexy-Nynol” based on nylon (Israel);
  • and others.

Prostheses made from these materials are manufactured using an injection molding system, which eliminates the possibility of monomer residues appearing in the finished product, as is the case with acrylic dentures. Depending on the added dyes, you can get designs of different colors (white, shades of pink) or completely transparent. Thermomolding plastic has varying degrees of rigidity. These can be soft nylon, flexible acetal or rather rigid structures made from the Acrifri material.

The use of thermoplastics to create removable dentures made it possible to solve the problem of missing teeth for those patients for whom acrylic structures were contraindicated. They gave all other people the opportunity to get a more aesthetic treatment result.

Which is better – Quadrotti or Acri Free prostheses?

When patients ask which system is better - Quadrotti dentures or Acree Free - most experts recommend Quadrotti dentures. Despite the fact that these are systems of the same type, it is believed that Quadrotti prostheses win in terms of reliability of fixation and overall quality indicators. At the same time, in terms of aesthetics and wearing comfort, these designs are on approximately the same level: modern Acry Free acrylic prostheses also do not cause allergies or problems with addiction. Summarizing all of the above, we can highlight a number of key advantages of dentures, which allow them to occupy a leading position in dental prosthetics.

Indications for the manufacture of Quadrotti and thermoplastic prostheses

Partially missing teeth Thermoplastics are successfully used for the manufacture of aesthetic removable dentures that compensate for tooth loss.

Allergy to acrylic Intolerance to acrylic is a direct indication for the use of alternative materials for dental prosthetics. Thermoplastics do not have toxic or allergic effects on the body.

Temporary prosthetics Prostheses made of thermoplastic materials are often made for the period of integration of implants. Thanks to this, the aesthetic problems of patients are quickly resolved. In addition, the remaining teeth do not need to be “ground down” and covered with crowns. After all, elastic clasps are softer than tooth enamel and do not damage it.

Extreme sports Flexible thermoplastic prostheses are perfect for people involved in extreme sports or those involved in traumatic professions.

Quadrotti prosthesis – prices in Moscow

As already mentioned, relative to removable economy-class structures, prices for Quadrotti dentures are quite high. On average, the price of Quadrotti dentures starts from 30,000 rubles and can reach up to 45,000. The total amount depends on the number of teeth being restored and the level of the clinic where the treatment is performed. Be that as it may, the prices for the Quadrotti clasp prosthesis are not much higher than for the best acrylic and nylon structures, so there is no need to talk about any big difference.

Kinds

There are no specific orthopedic devices, the technology of use and names of which have been registered. QuattroTi prosthetic products are manufactured using a single method and using identical models prepared individually. But Quadrotti devices can still be classified in the following areas:

the number of missing teeth - there are both small dentures designed for 1-2 teeth, similar to butterfly dentures, and those designed for installation with multiple included defects, the size of which can reach an entire dental arch;

by the color of the material used to make the hooks - this indicator depends on the shape of the crowns and the location of the hooks themselves (naturally, the artificial teeth themselves are made in white, and the gums are made in pink);

by localization - since QuattroTi prosthetics is used for both the lower and upper jaws, these designs differ (in the absence of chewing teeth in the upper part, an additional bridge is created that connects the product in the lateral parts).

Comments

You write that Quadrotti is good for everyone, but causes bone tissue atrophy. Are there options that will help avoid this defect if there are no teeth left in the mouth?

Artem Valerievich (06/29/2019 at 09:59) Reply to comment

    Dear Artem Valerievich, the problem of bone tissue atrophy can be solved only by installing implants. For example, there are implantation methods that today allow you to get a new smile in just a few days and are called one-stage protocols with immediate loading of the prosthesis. In case of multiple edentia, they comprehensively allow you to restore teeth. For example, all-on-3 or all-on-4. The cost of treatment will start from 280 thousand rubles - but you will no longer have problems, while the pullers will have to be constantly adjusted and changed. And remember, the greater the bone atrophy - it increases in direct proportion to the duration of wearing “pullers”, even such advanced ones as “Quadrotti”, the greater the number of implants for successful rehabilitation will have to be implanted later. You may not get away with three or four, but you will have to resort, for example, to prosthetics on 6 or even 10-14 implants at the same time.
